Company Description
The Museum of Childhood Ireland Project Company Limited By Guarantee is a pioneering, all-volunteer charity that celebrates the past, present and potential of childhood across the island and its diaspora. Established in 2018, the museum curates a national collection of more than 30,000 objects - from doll houses and toys to photographs and oral histories - and presents them through dynamic exhibitions, workshops, research projects and online experiences.
Its core activities include collecting, conserving and interpreting material culture, as well as creating interactive programmes such as the revived Dublin Doll Hospital, a Lambert Puppet Theatre, a children's art gallery and specialist displays named for Dorothy Hanley. By involving children directly in planning and delivery, the museum ensures that young voices are both seen and heard, fostering empathy, creativity and critical reflection for visitors of all ages.
Operating currently in pop-up and digital formats, the organisation is actively seeking a permanent, accessible home that will serve communities nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity, transparency and the celebration of Irish childhood heritage.
