Company Description
The Thomas MacDonagh Museum is a volunteer‑run charitable organisation dedicated to celebrating the life, poetry and patriotism of Thomas MacDonagh – the Cloughjordan‑born leader of the 1916 Rising. By collecting, safeguarding, exhibiting and interpreting artefacts, manuscripts and memorabilia linked to MacDonagh, his family and his era, the museum offers a vivid insight into a pivotal chapter of Irish history.
Visitors can explore a rotating programme of exhibitions and a lively calendar of events, including workshops such as “Designing Finnegans Wake” and the “Hedge School Script‑writing Workshop”, as well as the annual Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School. The museum also provides educational resources on the poet, his lineage and the broader cultural context. A small on‑site shop offers a curated range of greeting cards, specialist books and artworks inspired by the collection, allowing guests to take a piece of the legacy home.
Based in the heart of Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, the museum welcomes the public Tuesday to Friday (10 am–4 pm) and by appointment at weekends, ensuring free, year‑round access to anyone interested in Ireland
