Company Description
Cork Animal Care Society (Cork ACS) is a charitable organisation founded in October 2000 with the sole purpose of providing care and re-homing for animals in Cork City and County. Run almost entirely by volunteers, the society operates a network of dedicated dog, cat and wildlife fosterers and a 24-hour animal-welfare helpline. Since its inception the society has re-homed more than 12 000 animals and currently looks after over 130 residents at its sanctuary, offering veterinary-guided, non-euthanasia care that in 2017 alone required €20 000 in vet fees.
The charity also engages the public through adoption programmes, wildlife first-aid initiatives and an online shop that sells e-cards, calendars and a locally printed children's book, with all proceeds supporting its work. Funding is raised via major credit cards, PayPal, text-to-donate services and occasional grants, such as the recent Department of Agriculture award. By encouraging supporters to "adopt, don't buy" and to contribute even a small amount via text, Cork ACS continues to safeguard the lives of countless animals across the region.
