WILD ATLANTIC NATURE DESIGNATED ACTIVITY COMPANY

Wild Atlantic Nature LIFE IP is a nine‑year, EU‑funded LIFE Integrated Project that brings together farmers, landowners, local communities and a wide network of partners to protect and enhance Ireland’s blanket‑bog Special Areas of Conservation. Coordinated by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the programme adds value to the ecosystem services supplied by these peatlands – clean drinking water, carbon storage, rich biodiversity, high‑quality food production and the foundation for resilient rural economies through farming, tourism and recreation.

Operating across 35 pilot sites in Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo and Galway, Wild Atlantic Nature works hand‑in‑hand with stakeholders to develop a pilot‑results‑based payment scheme that rewards sustainable land‑management practices. The project draws on the expertise of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, RTÉ, Coillte, Fáilte Ireland, the Heritage Council, Bord na Móna, Teagasc, the Northern & Western Regional Assembly and the University of Santiago de Compostela, among others.
