SOUTH CARLOW COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

South Carlow Community First Responders (CFR) is a volunteer‑run emergency support organisation serving the south Carlow area. Trained volunteers from a variety of backgrounds are on standby to attend life‑threatening calls within a 10 km radius, arriving within the crucial first minutes while the ambulance is en route.

The team specialises in rapid response to cardiac arrest, heart attack, choking and stroke. Members are equipped to stabilise patients, deliver high‑quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation and operate portable automated external defibrillators (AEDs) until the highly skilled crews of the National Ambulance Service take over. As a CFR Live group, they are linked directly to the NAS National Emergency Operations Centre and receive alerts as soon as a 999/112 call is logged.

Since going live on 1 April 2023, the South Carlow CFR has handled over 85 emergency calls in its first year and continued to grow, responding to 75 calls in 2025. The organisation welcomes new volunteers aged 18 and
