IRISH ROUGE SHEEP [R.D.L'O] COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

The Irish Rouge Sheep Society (R.D.L’O) Company Limited by Guarantee is a not‑for‑profit organisation dedicated to the promotion, preservation and development of the Rouge de l’Ouest breed in Ireland. Established to support breeders and enthusiasts, the Society runs an online “Flockbook” that records pedigree information, tracks performance data and provides a central hub for members to share knowledge about this versatile, five‑star quality sheep.

Specialising in the unique attributes of the Rouge de l’Ouest, the Society highlights the breed’s high‑quality milk production, well‑muscled conformation and medium‑length wool. Detailed breed‑characteristics are available, covering head and facial features, body structure and fleece specifications (1.5–2 kg fleece weight, 4–5 cm staple length, 58s–60s spinning count). Although no events are scheduled at present, the Society regularly updates its calendar with upcoming meetings, shows and educational workshops for farmers, hobbyists and anyone interested in Irish livestock heritage.
