Shine A Light Suicide & Mental Health Awareness is a community‑driven non‑profit organisation founded in the autumn of 2009 in response to a series of tragic suicides on the north side of Cork City. Operating from the Northside Business Campus in Ballyvolane, Cork, the charity works to break the stigma surrounding mental ill‑health by offering a safe space where talking is recognised as a sign of strength.

The organisation provides compassionate, affordable counselling for individuals affected by suicide, mental health challenges and bereavement. In addition, it runs a programme of interactive workshops and public events designed to raise awareness, build resilience and promote well‑being across the wider community. A regular newsletter keeps supporters and beneficiaries up‑to‑date with the latest initiatives, resources and opportunities to get involved.

Supported by statutory bodies, local stakeholders and generous donors, Shine A Light relies on this collaborative network to deliver its vital services. Its core mission is to ensure that anyone in need can access timely, empathetic support, fostering hope and lasting change throughout the Cork area.
