AMDALAH AFRICA FOUNDATION (AMDAF)

Amdalah Africa Foundation (AMDAF) is an Irish charitable organisation dedicated to the protection and promotion of the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of migrant women and their families. Born from the personal stories shared during the launch of Islammiyah’s 2017 book *Love Doesn’t Have to Hurt*, the foundation now provides a safe, supportive sanctuary where women can connect, receive advice and access practical assistance.

AMDAF’s work centres on three thematic pillars – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI); Empowerment and Integration; and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on SDG 5 (gender equality). Through DEI training, community dialogues, targeted projects and youth‑mentoring schemes, the foundation strives to eliminate the root causes of discrimination and to foster a more inclusive, equitable society. Since 2019 it has engaged numerous women and families, delivered a range of projects and training sessions, and mentored young people, all underpinned by its vision of equal opportunity for migrant women regardless of race or gender.
