DUBLIN SAMARITANS

Dublin Samaritans is a charitable branch of the Samaritans network dedicated to reducing suicide and easing emotional distress across the capital. Their core mission is to provide a confidential, non-judgemental listening service that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, via a free-to-call telephone line and email. Volunteers are trained to offer support through a range of channels, including phone conversations, face-to-face meetings, and specialised outreach programmes in schools and prisons.

The service is fully accessible, with wheelchair-friendly facilities and accessible toilets, ensuring that anyone in need can reach out comfortably. In addition to direct listening, Dublin Samaritans runs the Learn 2 Listen programme, fundraising initiatives through the Friends of Dublin Samaritans, and community events such as festive walks and carol gatherings. By combining immediate emotional support with proactive outreach, the organisation strives to create a safer, more compassionate Dublin where fewer lives are lost to suicide.
