AIMS IRELAND COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

AIMS Ireland is a consumer-led voluntary organisation that champions the rights and experiences of people using maternity services throughout the Republic of Ireland. Founded in 2007 by women drawing on their own journeys through the Irish maternity system, the charity works to inform the public about evidence-based models of care, birth practices and settings, while highlighting areas of excellence and advocating for safer, more autonomous maternity provision.

The organisation provides independent, confidential, non-judgemental support and information to pregnant people and their families, assisting with complaints and running specialised online groups for birth-related trauma, obstetric anal sphincter injury, pregnancy, birth after caesarean and general birth choices. AIMS Ireland also contributes to national policy, sitting on the National Maternity Strategy Steering Group, various hospital committees and specialist steering groups, and regularly presents research findings and service-user perspectives to the HSE, Oireachtas health committees and academic institutions.

Through its advocacy, research participation and community-focused support services, AIMS Ireland strives to ensure that birth choice is recognised as a fundamental human right and that maternity care across Ireland continually improves for service users.
