FRONT LINE, THE INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS

Front Line Defenders is an international foundation dedicated to protecting human rights defenders (HRDs) who face threats, harassment, arrest or violence because of their work. By monitoring incidents worldwide, publishing the annual *Global Analysis 2024/25* and maintaining an up-to-date case database, the organisation shines a light on the diverse risks confronting HRDs across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific.

In addition to its research, Front Line Defenders runs a high-profile award programme, inviting nominations for the 2026 Front Line Defenders Award for HRDs at risk, and issues timely statements on urgent situations-from arbitrary arrests in Iran to attacks on environmental activists in Chile. The foundation also provides emergency support through its "Protect One, Empower A Thousand" initiative, helping individuals on the ground while advocating for systemic change at the international level.
