THE SHONA PROJECT

The Shona Project is a youth-focused social enterprise that celebrates women from every corner of the globe by sharing real stories of triumph, challenge and everyday life. Through a vibrant mix of articles, podcasts and digital content, the organisation creates a safe, inclusive space where girls and young women can laugh, learn, cry and connect with one another.

At the heart of its work are school-based programmes delivered across Ireland since 2016. The Project offers two interactive workshops - one on influence, kindness and goal-setting, and another on confidence, mindset and finding one's voice - as well as a free "Shine Festival" of over 200 pre-recorded videos, discussion guides and journal prompts covering health, sport, careers, the arts and activism. Additional resources include a free bathroom-art stencil kit, downloadable lesson plans linked to wellbeing outcomes, a Junior Ambassador Programme for senior-cycle leaders, a yearly handbook distributed to 35,000 first-year girls, and a research-driven insight hub for parents and educators.

By combining storytelling with practical, curriculum-aligned tools, The Shona Project empowers Irish girls to become confident, resilient leaders of tomorrow.
