Company Description
The Irish Gliding and Soaring Association (IGSA) is the national body that oversees all gliding activity in the Republic of Ireland. Through its Operational Regulations, the Association sets the standards for safe and efficient gliding operations, incorporating statutory instruments that cover every aspect of the sport.
IGSA's core services include the maintenance and air-worthiness review of gliders in partnership with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). Since 2007 the body has managed the registration of Irish gliders, and it holds EASA PART-CAO approvals that grant it maintenance and air-worthiness review privileges. The Association also supports pilot and instructor development - historically establishing training standards and instructor ratings, and now coordinating the transition to EASA PART-SFCL licensing. In addition, IGSA promotes competitive soaring, organising a national ladder and supporting pilots who represent Ireland at European and World Championships.
Working closely with the IAA and EASA, IGSA ensures that Ireland's gliding community remains compliant, well-maintained and competitive on the international stage.
