WEST OF IRELAND ALZHEIMER FOUNDATION

West of Ireland Alzheimer Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting families living with dementia across the west of Ireland. By offering a range of community-based care and support services, the foundation helps people with Alzheimer's and their loved ones maintain dignity, independence and quality of life. Their provision includes residential respite care at the newly opened Joe & Helen O'Toole Respite Home, as well as a suite of flexible support options that can be tailored to individual needs throughout Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

In addition to direct care, the foundation runs a vibrant fundraising programme that brings the community together - from the popular Galway Super Draw and Tea Day events to the "Light Up Connemara" campaign and the annual "Peak of the Reek" challenge. Volunteers can become befrienders, host tea days or join the charity's Lotto, while donors can contribute single gifts or support the Memory Wall, a tribute to those whose lives have been touched by the service. Through these initiatives, West of Ireland Alzheimer Foundation not only delivers essential care but also fosters a network of compassion and support for the region's dementia community.
