Company Description
The Cork Association for the Deaf (CDA) is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community throughout Cork city and county. Part-funded by the Health Service Executive, the association offers a range-of specialist services designed to improve everyday life for its members.
Key provisions include one-to-one hearing-loss adjustments, dedicated tinnitus support, and Irish Sign Language (ISL) programmes that celebrate the native language of Irish Deaf people. CDA also runs the annual CODA Festival, provides information through the National Ability Support Services (NASS) database, and offers DeafTech advice on aids and appliances. Additional resources such as downloadable leaflets, a corporate social-responsibility partnership scheme, and a strategic plan outlining six core aims for 2023-2028 further extend its impact. Volunteers and donors are welcomed, and a regular newsletter keeps the community informed of events and opportunities.
Through these services, the Cork Association for the Deaf fosters inclusion, education and advocacy, ensuring that Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in Cork have the support they need to thrive.
