Company Description
The Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (Cumann Uiscebhealaigh Intíre na hÉireann) is the recognised voice for Ireland's inland waterways. It represents the interests of its members to governments in both Northern Ireland and the Republic, to Waterways Ireland and to local authorities, championing the protection, restoration and sustainable use of canals, rivers and lakes across the island.
Through a network of 24 active branches, the IWAI organises boat rallies, social and training events, and heritage-conservation projects, while its campaigning work focuses on restoring key waterways such as the Newry & Portadown Canal, the Ulster Canal and sections of the Grand Canal. Members also benefit from the quarterly *Inland Waterways News* magazine, exclusive IWAI charts that provide up-to-date navigation information, and a suite of policy documents, safety guides and resources that support both recreational boaters and the wider waterway community.
