ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY FOR IRELAND

The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASA) is the independent body that sets and upholds the Code of Standards for Advertising and Marketing Communications across the country. By ensuring every commercial message - from broadcast and print ads to online and social-media promotions - is legal, decent, honest and truthful, the ASA protects consumers and helps the advertising industry maintain public trust.

Key services include a free copy-advice service for advertisers, agencies, media outlets and promoters, as well as clear guidance for influencers on labelling sponsored content. The ASA also runs an Independent Complaints Council that investigates consumer complaints, publishes decisions and provides regular updates on emerging issues such as influencer marketing. In addition, the authority offers webinars, research reports and a downloadable code to keep the sector informed.

Funded entirely by the advertising industry, the ASA operates without state support or consumer charges, serving businesses and consumers throughout Ireland while remaining fully independent of any single commercial interest.
