Company Description
The Irish Labour History Society (ILHS) is a museum and archive dedicated to preserving and promoting the story of Irish workers and their organisations. Founded in 1973, the Society’s constitution sets out a clear mission: to increase public knowledge of Irish labour history, to champion its inclusion in the educational curriculum, and to safeguard oral and written records of the Irish working class past and present.
ILHS serves scholars, students, trade‑union members and anyone with an interest in social history through a range of specialist services. It publishes the peer‑reviewed journal *Saothar* (the 2026 subscription includes the forthcoming issue 51), releases scholarly books such as *The Larkin’s Union 1924‑1989* and *Labour History in Irish History*, and offers a curated collection of essays, articles and news updates. Membership, which can be renewed annually, provides access to these publications, exclusive events – for example the launch of *Left Lives 5* – and a regular newsletter.
By combining a vibrant archive, a lively programme of talks and launches, and a robust publishing arm, the Irish Labour History Society ensures that the contributions of Ireland’s labour movement remain visible, studied and celebrated.
