The Irish Society of Interventional Radiology (ISIR) is a professional, not‑for‑profit organisation founded in 1995 to champion the specialty of interventional radiology across Ireland. By fostering education, research and clinical excellence, ISIR provides a dedicated forum for consultant radiologists who specialise in minimally invasive image‑guided procedures.

Membership is limited to consultants who are Fellows of the Faculty of Radiologists of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland or the Royal College of Radiologists in the United Kingdom. The Society’s core activities centre on bi‑annual meetings that bring together leading international experts – each guest lecturer is honoured with the Society’s Silver Medal – and collaborative events such as the recent joint meetings with the Faculty of Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University, Chicago. These gatherings deliver cutting‑edge scientific updates, hands‑on workshops and networking opportunities, reinforcing ISIR’s role as the hub for continuing professional development in interventional radiology throughout the island.
