CAIRDE LE CHÉILE AFTERSCHOOL LIMITED

Cairde le Cheile Afterschool Limited is a charitable community organisation (CLG) dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disability across County Donegal. Born out of the Special Olympics movement in 2003, the charity now delivers a broad programme of sporting, social and employment opportunities for individuals with disability, as well as for young people and senior citizens throughout the county.

The organisation’s flagship services include inclusive sport sessions, community‑based social clubs and tailored employment pathways, all designed to foster independence, confidence and friendship. Cairde le Cheile’s commitment to excellence was recognised in 2022 when it received the “Best Community Organisation/Social Enterprise (Large)” award at the Donegal Local Development CLG Community Recognition Awards.

Based on the St Conal’s Hospital Campus, on the edge of Letterkenny Town Park, Cairde le Cheile works closely with partners such as Special Olympics Ireland, the HSE, DLDC and Active Donegal to ensure a vibrant, supportive network for its members. Its mission—“Friends Together Supporting People with Disability”—captures the warm, collaborative spirit that underpins every activity and initiative.
