IRISH MUAYTHAI COUNCIL COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

The Irish Muay Thai Council Company Limited by Guarantee is the national governing body for Muay Thai in Ireland. It exists to empower athletes, coaches and gyms through the art of the “Eight‑Limbed” sport, promoting health, self‑defence, community building and competitive excellence. By overseeing rules, regulations and affiliations, the Council ensures that Irish practitioners train and compete to the highest standards recognised by the International Muay Thai Federation (IFMA).

Key services include the development and dissemination of a comprehensive rule‑book, accreditation of affiliated gyms, and the organisation of a varied calendar of events – from live fights and high‑performance training days to specialised seminars led by elite instructors such as Craig O’Flynn (Cork), Jonathan Lewis (Dublin) and John Walsh (Waterford). The Council also offers guidance on diet, weight control and strength‑and‑conditioning, and provides a platform for athletes to compete in both domestic IMC contests and international IFMA tournaments.

Operating across the Republic, the Council’s activities are regularly hosted in venues such as the Carlow Muay Thai Gym, with additional sessions taking place in Cork, Dublin and Waterford, reflecting its commitment to serving the whole Irish Muay Thai community.
