FANCROFT MILL LIMITED

Fancroft Mill & Gardens is a privately‑run heritage site that has rescued a historic water‑mill complex from dereliction and restored it to full, albeit domestic, milling capability. Situated on a tributary of the Little Brosna River, roughly four kilometres north of Roscrea, the mill uniquely straddles the Offaly–Tipperary county boundary. The mill now houses a set of newly fitted mill stones and a small‑scale generator that supplies heat to the property, showcasing traditional grain‑processing techniques for educational and demonstrative purposes.

Beyond its industrial heritage, Fancroft offers a versatile venue for cultural and community events, having hosted heritage seminars, classical concerts and traditional music sessions. The site’s commitment to conservation has been recognised with awards from the Irish Georgian Society and the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland, underscoring its role as a leading example of restored industrial architecture in the region.
