Company Description
Climate Action Louisburgh Locality (CALL) is a not‑for‑profit voluntary group of like‑minded individuals dedicated to building a more sustainable future for the Louisburgh area and its surrounding landscape—from Killary Harbour to Clew Bay, encompassing farmland, mountains, bogs, islands, rivers, forest and coastal communities. The organisation works to reduce carbon emissions and waste, while actively enhancing biodiversity across the locality.
CALL delivers its mission through a range of semi‑autonomous sub‑groups that focus on specific climate‑action themes. Projects include the “Blue Dot to the Sea” campaign, which aims to achieve ecologically pure water quality in the Bunowen and Carrowniskey catchments, and a pilot bog‑restoration scheme in Killeen, Co. Mayo, funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Other activities promote sustainable energy, low‑carbon mobility, local food production, carbon sequestration through tree planting, and public awareness of climate change. Volunteers are welcomed to join any of these strands, ensuring that community members can contribute their time and skills to a greener, healthier environment.
