EFNCP (IRELAND)

The European Forum on Nature Conservation and Pastoralism (EFNCP) is an Ireland-based network dedicated to safeguarding Europe's High Nature Value (HNV) farming systems. By bringing together farmers, researchers, policy-makers and civil-society organisations, EFNCP creates a platform for sharing learning, innovation and knowledge that supports low-intensity, traditional agriculture and the biodiversity it nurtures.

EFNCP's core activities include the HNV Link - an online hub for collaborative exchange - and a robust programme of workshops, study tours and conferences across the continent. The Forum produces evidence-based reports and policy briefs on topics such as grazing-fire risk management, results-based payments for common land, and the role of the Common Agricultural Policy in protecting HNV grasslands. Its publications, newsletters (La Cañada) and video series further disseminate best practice and emerging research to a wide audience.

Through these services, EFNCP helps farmers and land managers enhance the ecological and economic resilience of pastoral landscapes, while influencing European policy to ensure the long-term viability of HNV farming.
