The National Institute of Intellectual Disability Studies (NIIDS) is Ireland’s pioneering one‑stop marketplace for training and development in the intellectual disability sector. Drawing on a network of national and international experts, NIIDS delivers person‑centred CPD that equips staff to meet HIQA standards, human‑rights‑based practice and the latest regulatory requirements.

Key offerings include a bespoke, accredited curriculum for people with intellectual disabilities, a comprehensive Workforce Development programme built around the AOSSSC© Competency Framework, and the eHub – an online learning platform hosting more than 700 self‑paced, multimedia courses aligned to six core HIQA‑derived competencies. NIIDS also provides specialist guidance on restrictive practices, backed by BILD certification and the Restraint Reduction Network UK, and its programmes carry endorsements from SCI, NMBI and the CPD Group.
