Company Description
The Irish Harness Racing Association (IHRA) is the recognised breed society for Ireland's two harness-racing codes - pacers and trotters - and the official custodian of their studbooks. Funded through the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine's Equine Support Grant, the IHRA works to promote the sport, support breeders and safeguard the integrity of the breed across the island.
A core service is the online breeding database, "pediweb", which gives members remote access to pedigrees of broodmares, stallions and foals, as well as detailed racing records. This platform enables breeders to plan matings, track progeny and verify parentage through advanced SNP DNA testing, a service the IHRA has piloted in partnership with Weatherbys Scientific. Additional resources include downloadable breeding programme guidelines, membership information and the latest performance-authentication reports, all aimed at enhancing transparency and performance within the industry.
Based in Dundalk, County Louth, the IHRA serves owners, trainers and breeders throughout Ireland, providing the infrastructure and expertise needed to sustain and grow the nation's vibrant harness-racing community.
