Company Description
The Africa-Irish Development Initiative (AIDI) was founded in 2008 to deepen the historic, cultural and intercultural links between Ireland and African communities living on the island. Operating as a company limited by guarantee, AIDI acts as a bridge for sustainable development, bringing together governments, NGOs, academia, the private sector and local communities to design and deliver projects that foster economic growth, improve education and healthcare, support agricultural development and build skills across Africa.
AIDI's core activities centre on partnership building, knowledge exchange and innovation. It funds and manages initiatives in sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and technology, with a 2024 focus on climate-change adaptation, digital transformation and food-security. The organisation also champions cultural inclusion through programmes like Black & Africa History Month, language-and-culture workshops and community-wide behavioural-change campaigns. While its work is rooted in Ireland, AIDI's impact reaches across a range of African partner countries, delivering projects that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
