CONNEMARA PROGRAMME LIMITED

Connemara Programme Limited is a self‑funded social enterprise founded in 2011 with the aim of helping the Connemara region of Co. Galway recover from the recession and raise its profile on a global stage. By documenting and codifying more than 45 000 records and curating a stock of 85 000 up‑to‑date photographs, the Programme has built a reusable technical infrastructure that underpins a suite of open‑data resources, a dedicated business directory and a range of community services – all offered free of charge to local non‑profit organisations.

Key products include Sustainable Connemara, which promotes environmentally responsible businesses and initiatives; Brexit and Connemara, providing information and support on the post‑Brexit landscape; and Connepedia, an online encyclopedia covering the many facets of the area. Services extend to open data sets covering the 50 Connemara communities, assistance with high‑speed internet planning, support for funding applications, and the production of case‑study PDFs that showcase the Programme’s impact on both business and community development.

The Connemara Programme serves local enterprises, community groups and researchers, delivering data, analysis and promotional support that helps the region’s 31 000 residents and its highly seasonal, tourism‑driven economy thrive.
