Company Description
Muileann Coirce Leitir Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Ráthaíochta - better known as Leitir Corn Mill-is a restored 19th-century corn mill set on the banks of the Glenaddragh River in Kilcar, Co. Donegal. The mill, which ground local corn into oatmeal for the community until 1954, now operates as a heritage attraction, inviting visitors to step back in time and discover the engineering and agricultural traditions that shaped the region.
The site offers guided Mill Tours that showcase authentic milling equipment in its original setting, alongside a scenic Mill Walk that follows the river-powered waterway through picturesque countryside. A modest coffee cart in the car park provides freshly brewed coffee, hot chocolate and light snacks, making the experience comfortable for families, school groups and history enthusiasts alike. Open from early July to early September on Mondays and Tuesdays, the mill also runs a conservation project that welcomes donations to support ongoing restoration work.
Through its educational tours, natural walks and community-focused events, Leitir Corn Mill preserves a valuable piece of Irish industrial heritage while providing a tranquil day-out for locals and tourists alike.
