The Irish Institute of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IICAPP) is the dedicated training and accreditation hub for professionals seeking to specialise in child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Operating under a company limited by guarantee, IICAPP oversees a comprehensive four‑year programme that combines a two‑year MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Trinity College Dublin with a subsequent two‑year post‑master clinical training at the Institute itself. A distinctive feature of the course is the two‑year infant observation component, the only one of its kind in Ireland, which equips trainees with a deep understanding of early relational development.

Graduates of the IICAPP pathway become eligible for accreditation by the Irish Forum for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFCAPP), a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy, and are prepared to work across a range of settings—including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, early‑intervention teams, paediatric units, and private practice.
