Company Description
The Irish Institute of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IICAPP) is the dedicated training and accreditation hub for professionals seeking to specialise in child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Operating under a company limited by guarantee, IICAPP oversees a comprehensive four‑year programme that combines a two‑year MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Trinity College Dublin with a subsequent two‑year post‑master clinical training at the Institute itself. A distinctive feature of the course is the two‑year infant observation component, the only one of its kind in Ireland, which equips trainees with a deep understanding of early relational development.
Graduates of the IICAPP pathway become eligible for accreditation by the Irish Forum for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFCAPP), a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy, and are prepared to work across a range of settings—including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, early‑intervention teams, paediatric units, and private practice. The Institute’s long‑standing reputation, built on more than two decades of successful training, ensures that emerging psychotherapists acquire the theoretical rigour, reflective practice and clinical confidence required to support children, teenagers, families and carers. The next intake begins in September 2025.
