Letterkenny Islamic Association (LIA) is a community-driven, not-for-profit organisation serving Muslims in Letterkenny, County Donegal and the wider north-west region. Its core mission is to nurture the spiritual life of the local Muslim population by organising daily and Tarawih prayers, delivering sermons and religious lessons, and hosting the annual Ramadan programme. In 2025 LIA welcomed Sheikh Muhammad Fathi as its Imam for the holy month, and it regularly invites learned scholars to lead Taraweeh, Eid and Eid ul-Adha prayers at venues such as the Vestry Hall and the Isa ibn Maryam community centre.

Beyond worship, LIA provides practical support: it circulates up-to-date prayer-time timetables for Letterkenny and Donegal town, offers digital resources through the MyMasjid and PrayerTimes Ireland apps, and coordinates the collection and distribution of Zakat ul-Fitr to reputable charities. The association also organises family-friendly community events, including an annual Eid dish-sharing party, fostering cultural exchange and social cohesion among members of all ages.
