SICKLE CELL AND THALASSAEMIA IRELAND COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland (SCTI) is a charitable organisation run by families, patients, carriers and volunteers who are dedicated to raising awareness of, and support for, sickle-cell disease and thalassaemia across the Republic. Based in Dublin, the charity works with health professionals, schools and community groups to improve public understanding, promote genetic screening and influence policy that benefits those living with these inherited blood disorders.

SCTI delivers a range of specialist services, including an up-to-date resource database, educational workshops, focus-group discussions and networking events. It also runs youth-support networks and community-support programmes that encourage social inclusion and provide practical assistance to patients and their families. Through media campaigns, printed information and partnerships with other health organisations, the charity strives to create a robust support network and to drive research towards a cure.

Governed by a volunteer management committee and a non-executive board, SCTI adheres to the Charities Governance Code and publishes its annual accounts in line with the Charities SORP, ensuring transparency and accountability while championing the needs of the sickle-cell and thalassaemia community in Ireland.
