Company Description
The National Council for People with Disabilities (NCPD) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that champions the rights and interests of disabled people across Ireland. Established in March 2012 to continue the work of the former People with Disabilities in Ireland, NCPD brings together disabled people, carers, families and allies to influence policy, break down barriers and promote full equality.
Operating from its headquarters in Shannon, County Clare, NCPD runs a network of county-based branches that deliver locally-focused projects, training, workshops and advocacy initiatives. The Clare branch, for example, will soon host sections on accessibility, training, vision-setting, political engagement, disability projects and inspirational resources, all designed to support everyday life and empower members to shape decisions that affect them. By combining local insight with national coordination, NCPD offers a cross-disability platform where physical, emotional, intellectual and mental disabilities are represented, and where both disabled and able-bodied supporters can collaborate for lasting social change.
