IRISH DOGS FOR THE DISABLED COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Irish Dogs for the Disabled Company Limited by Guarantee is a pioneering Irish charity that trains highly-qualified assistance dogs to give children and adults with physical disabilities greater independence and confidence. By ethically breeding Golden Retrievers, Labradors and Standard Poodles, the organisation produces Mobility, Task, Facility and Therapy dogs that are matched to partners based solely on need - no payment is ever required for a dog.

The charity runs Europe's most successful Mobility Dog training programme and collaborates with hospitals, community facilities and the Irish Prison Service to place dogs that do not graduate as assistance partners into Therapy and Canine Assisted Intervention roles. Each assistance dog costs €15,000 to produce, and the charity currently operates on a €600,000 annual budget, seeking €1 million a year to expand its services and meet the demand for up to 35 new dogs annually.
