Company Description
Barka For Mutual Help Ireland is a Dublin-based charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the Polish community and other migrants living in Ireland. Through its flagship Reconnection Project, funded by Dublin City Council, Barka assists individuals in re-establishing links with their home countries - a service that has helped over 1,000 people between 2012 and 2024. The project is coordinated by a bilingual team member who speaks both Polish and English, ensuring that support is accessible and culturally sensitive.
Beyond reconnection, Barka fosters community cohesion by organising cultural gatherings such as the annual Polish Christmas Eve (Wigilia) celebration and commemorative events. These activities provide a welcoming space for social interaction, cultural exchange and mutual assistance among members of the diaspora. With a board of directors and a chief executive officer overseeing its operations, Barka combines strategic leadership with grassroots outreach, delivering practical help and a sense of belonging to those navigating life far from home.
