G.I.V.E. FOUNDATION

The Gambia Ireland Volunteers in Education (G.I.V.E.) Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to strengthening education in The Gambia through collaborative partnerships with Irish teachers. Since 2011, G.I.V.E. volunteers have delivered hands-on workshops for early-childhood educators (children aged 3-6) and for teachers of Grades 1 and 2 in lower basic schools, helping them develop professional skills and become facilitators of peer-led training within their own clusters.

In addition to classroom support, G.I.V.E. runs Skills Centres that provide a "last-chance" learning pathway for girls aged 17-20 who have left formal schooling, and it organises seminars for school leaders on topics such as school organisation, leadership, policy development and improvement planning. The foundation's work is underpinned by a long-standing vision of a supportive, collaborative partnership between Irish and Gambian educators, and it operates as a registered charity (CHY20100). Volunteers-particularly retired teachers and those on career breaks-play a vital role in delivering these programmes, creating lasting impact for teachers, students and school communities across The Gambia.
