OPERATION CHILDLIFE

Operation Childlife is an Irish-based global healthcare charity that mobilises volunteer medical teams to deliver life-changing paediatric surgeries in low-resource countries. By organising in-country missions, the organisation brings international specialists to perform complex procedures free of charge, while simultaneously training local doctors and nurses to build sustainable expertise within the host health systems.

Key services include on-site surgical interventions, hands-on education for local healthcare personnel, and post-operative follow-up through remote online collaboration. The charity also offers broader educational support to its international partners, ensuring that knowledge transfer continues long after the mission ends. All activities are funded through fundraising and pro-bono contributions, meaning no recipient incurs any cost.

Since its inception, Operation Childlife has transformed the lives of over 1,400 children, trained more than 200 local medical professionals, and engaged a dedicated volunteer network of around 50 specialists. Its work spans missions in Tanzania, Vietnam, Jordan and other underserved regions, supported by partners such as the Emirates Airline Foundation. The organisation's commitment to compassionate, high-quality care makes it a vital bridge between global expertise and the children who need it most.
