IRISH YOGA ASSOCIATION

The Irish Yoga Association (IYA) is a democratic, charitable organisation dedicated to sharing the practice and philosophy of yoga throughout Ireland, Europe and beyond. Founded in 1978, the IYA brings together students, teachers and tutors from all walks of life, fostering a community that explores yoga as both a personal journey and a universal way of life, grounded in classical texts such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Hathayogapradīpikā.

The Association's core offerings include a four-year Teacher Training Course recognised by the European Union of Yoga (EUY), a range of continuing-professional-development events - from Viniyoga and Vedic chanting workshops to deep-practice seminars - and a robust membership scheme that provides insurance, discounted seminars and free listing on the IYA teacher directory. Area Representatives across the country, including Dublin North, help connect practitioners with qualified IYA teachers and keep the community informed of upcoming workshops and EUY congresses.

Through its volunteer-run management team and strong European links, the IYA delivers high-quality training, promotes yoga as a practical lifestyle, and supports teachers to teach confidently across the continent.
