Kinnegad Combined Community Employment Scheme (KCCES) is a charitable company limited by guarantee that coordinates the Community Employment Scheme for 22 community and voluntary groups across Westmeath, Offaly and Meath. Funded by the Department of Social Protection, the scheme offers part‑time and temporary placements to long‑term unemployed individuals who are receiving a qualifying social‑welfare payment. By embedding participants in local voluntary organisations, KCCES provides meaningful practical experience, on‑the‑job training and the opportunity to achieve QQI‑accredited awards up to Level 6.

The core services of KCCES centre on three pillars: employment placement, skills development and progression training. Participants receive job‑specific instruction alongside broader personal‑development programmes, enabling them to acquire new technical abilities, enhance their CV and build confidence. The scheme also works closely with sponsors and sub‑sponsors to ensure each placement is tailored to the individual’s career goals, with the ultimate aim of securing sustainable, secure employment after the placement ends.

Through its collaborative approach, KCCES not only helps individuals re‑enter the workforce but also strengthens the capacity of local community organisations, creating a virtuous cycle of skill‑building and social inclusion throughout the three counties.
