IRISH SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL NUTRITION AND METABOLISM

The Irish Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IrSPEN) is a multi-disciplinary professional organisation committed to improving the screening, prevention and management of malnutrition and related nutritional problems across Ireland. Drawing together clinicians, dietitians, researchers and allied health professionals, IrSPEN works to ensure that at-risk patients - whether in hospital or in the community - are identified early and receive safe, high-quality nutritional care.

Key activities include the development of professional resources, delivery of education programmes and conferences, and the promotion of research that advances clinical nutrition practice. The society also advocates on policy issues, such as opposing proposals to re-classify high-protein oral nutritional supplements, and runs campaigns like Malnutrition Awareness Week to raise public and professional understanding of the scale of the problem.

Based in Dublin, IrSPEN serves health-care providers and patients throughout the Republic, fostering a collaborative network that aims to make Ireland a model of best practice in clinical nutrition.
