PSYCHOLOGISTS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS LIMITED

Psychologists in Primary Schools (PIPS) is a specialist Irish organisation that delivers accessible, school‑based psychological support to children in participating primary schools. Working alongside teachers, parents and school management, PIPS provides a safe, non‑judgemental environment where children can explore their feelings and develop resilience through one‑to‑one counselling, sand‑play therapy and targeted behavioural and educational assessments.

The service is staffed by eight Assistant Psychologists who are embedded in eight schools, offering regular sessions for pupils referred by teachers or parents. In addition to therapeutic work, PIPS conducts psychometric testing—including the Behaviour Checklist and British Ability Scales—producing reports that underpin applications for Special Needs Assistants and Resource Teaching Hours. A free counselling service is also available for children outside the school programme, delivered through a partner centre in Dublin.

Guided by the Child First Guidelines and a family‑centred approach, PIPS is praised by school principals for its high‑quality, child‑focused care and its contribution to the wellbeing and self‑esteem of young learners across Dublin’s primary education community.
