Company Description
MusicAlive Limited was founded in 2009 by Kevin O'Shanahan and Caoimhe Conlon after their involvement in a European Music and Health Exchange programme with the Waterford Healing Arts Trust. The organisation delivers high-quality, participative programmes that harness the joy, creativity and therapeutic power of live musical interaction for people in mental-health and older-age community and health-care settings.
Their core offering centres on music-led sessions that are open-ended and person-focused, allowing participants to choose their level of involvement. MusicAlive also collaborates with professional artists from movement, creative writing and visual arts, enriching the experience with multidisciplinary creativity. The group's work is underpinned by evidence-based research and ethnomusicology, and they have contributed to publications such as *Beyond Health Recovery* and *Creativity and Mental Health*. Past project partners include Age and Opportunity, the Arts Council, Cope Foundation, Cork City and County Arts Offices, the Cork Arts and Health partnership, the HSE and Cork Mental Health Services.
