The Irish Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (IHPA) is the national representative body for hang-gliding and paragliding in Ireland, run by pilots for the benefit of pilots. It provides a vibrant community for enthusiasts of all experience levels, from those learning to fly to seasoned competitors, and is recognised internationally through its affiliation with the International Aeronautical Authority and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

The IHPA delivers a full suite of services, including IAA-approved training programmes, internationally recognised pilot-proficiency cards, and ongoing safety updates covering airspace, NOTAMs and air law. Members enjoy access to a range of activities such as national and international competitions, cross-country league events, record-flight tracking, and specialised flying holidays. Additional support is offered through parachute repacks, weather forecasts, and a free-flight magazine, while communication channels like a GoogleGroups mailing list, WhatsApp groups and a lively Facebook page keep the community connected.

By joining the IHPA, pilots gain a membership card, site access, insurance discounts and the opportunity to represent Ireland on the world stage, all under the guidance of a dedicated, pilot-led organisation.
