Company Description
South Dublin Arts Centre - known as Rua Red - is a vibrant community hub in Tallaght that brings contemporary art to a wide audience. The centre hosts a constantly rotating programme of exhibitions, performances, talks and workshops, showcasing both Irish and international artists and encouraging dialogue around social and political themes. Its open-access gallery, café and weekly event series create a welcoming space where anyone can explore, create and connect.
Rua Red also supports artists directly through affordable studio licences and residencies. Mid-career and emerging visual artists can apply for dedicated workspaces equipped with concrete flooring, sinks and storage, while resident artists benefit from a network of peers, specialist facilities and mentorship opportunities. In addition, the Learn programme offers classes and workshops for adults, children, schools and community groups, covering a broad range of visual, musical, dance and performance disciplines.
With over 225 000 visitors each year, the centre prides itself on accessibility and inclusivity - all areas are lift-accessible, equipped with induction loops and baby-care facilities, and guide-dogs are welcome. Rua Red is supported by the Arts Council, South Dublin County Council, Creative Ireland and Project Ireland 2040, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of the South Dublin arts scene.
