The Secretariat of Secondary Schools, operating as the Joint Managerial Body (JMB), is a not‑for‑profit company limited by guarantee that supports voluntary secondary schools across Ireland. Its core mission is to assist school leaders – principals, deputy principals, board of management members and other senior staff – by providing policy advice, practical resources and professional development.

Key services include:
- A comprehensive online portal offering a school‑area dashboard, regional contact details and A‑Z access to information.
- Regular publications, bulletins, circulars and information notes on current education issues and statutory requirements.
- A robust training programme featuring seminars, webinars and conferences on leadership, inclusive learning, recruitment, vetting procedures and emerging topics such as generative AI.
- An events calendar, video recordings of keynote addresses and panel discussions, and a library of presentations.

The JMB also liaises with the Department of Education on school‑building allocations and infrastructural reform, and it maintains a council of education professionals to guide its work. Registered with the Companies Registration Office, Revenue and the Charities Regulator, the JMB is the central hub for guidance, support and advocacy for Ireland’s voluntary secondary schools.
