Company Description
Monreagh Ulster-Scots Education & Heritage Association is the charitable body that runs the Monreagh Heritage Centre, a visitor hub dedicated to the history and culture of the Ulster-Scots and Scots-Irish communities in the Laggan district of East Donegal. Set in a lovingly restored Victorian manse with sweeping views of the lowlands, the centre offers self-guided tours that showcase original photographs, paintings, memorabilia and a curated selection of local records, helping guests trace family links to the 17th- and 18th-century Scottish settlers who later shaped the United States and Canada. A nearby 1644 Scottish church, still in use, adds an authentic historic backdrop.
The centre's programme extends beyond the exhibition space, hosting regular music, cultural and industrial events as well as "Living History" projects for schools. Free downloadable guides on Donegal's Ulster-Scots heritage and step-by-step family-history resources further support researchers and tourists alike. By combining immersive storytelling with educational activities, Monreagh Heritage Centre serves anyone interested in exploring the rich trans-Atlantic legacy of the Laggan region.
