SUSTAINABLE WATER NETWORK (SWAN) COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

The Sustainable Water Network (SWAN) Company Limited By Guarantee is an umbrella organisation that brings together 25 of Ireland's leading environmental NGOs to protect and restore the nation's rivers, lakes, coast and groundwater. By pooling expertise and resources, SWAN works nationally to raise awareness of the escalating threats to Ireland's water environment and to influence water policy in line with the EU Water Framework Directive.

SWAN's core activities include policy and advocacy work, targeted campaigns, and an education programme aimed at securing maximum protection for aquatic resources. Through research, stakeholder engagement and public outreach, the network highlights the decline in water quality-where nearly half of rivers, lakes and estuaries are now classified as unhealthy-and pushes for stronger legislative and practical measures. Its members benefit from a collaborative platform that amplifies their voice and drives collective action across the country.
