Company Description
Network Services Transition Designated Activity Company, trading as Gas Networks Ireland, is the operator of the Republic's gas transmission system. It supplies a safe, reliable flow of gas to more than 720,000 homes and businesses, while steering the network towards a low-carbon future in which renewable gases replace fossil natural gas.
The company's core services include connecting new and existing customers to the gas grid, handling meter-reading submissions, and providing support on billing and GPRN queries. In addition, Gas Networks Ireland is actively developing a "renewables-ready" network: it links anaerobic digestion facilities that produce biomethane, integrates green hydrogen and compressed (bio)CNG for heavy-goods and bus fleets, and works with the Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve to safeguard supply during disruptions.
With a national footprint, Gas Networks Ireland serves customers across the country and collaborates with producers of renewable gases to help decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as transport, agriculture, industry and power generation, aiming for a net-zero gas network by 2045.
