ACTION LESOTHO

Action Lesotho is an Irish-based non-governmental organisation dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in the Kingdom of Lesotho. All of its work in Ireland is carried out by volunteers - from board members to support staff - ensuring that the overwhelming majority of donations are channelled directly to projects on the ground and to the fully Basotho team that delivers them.

The charity runs a suite of targeted programmes. Its Childhood Education and Wellbeing initiative supports the most disadvantaged children, many of whom are orphans, through seven distinct activities. The Horticulture Programme empowers families to grow their own vegetables, offering sack, keyhole, household and market gardens and operating a research and training centre in Phukalla. Through Training for Employment, young adults gain skills that can lift entire households out of poverty, while the Health and Nutrition scheme supplies weekly parcels of milk, sorghum porridge and peanut butter to vulnerable children. Action Lesotho relies entirely on donations of money, goods and voluntary time to sustain these life-changing projects.
