The Optimist Dinghy Sailing Association of Ireland (IODAI) is a company limited by guarantee dedicated to nurturing young sailing talent across the island. By organising a full calendar of Optimist-class events - from the IODAI Sprint Series and regional championships to the highly-anticipated National Training Week - the association provides a structured pathway for sailors aged under-12 to develop their skills, compete in a supportive environment and progress through recognised ranking systems.

IODAI's core services include the delivery of regattas, training programmes and ranking updates, as well as the administration of annual memberships for young sailors. The association also recognises achievement through regular upgrades to Gold, Silver and Bronze status, and it engages a network of sponsors to sustain its activities. All events are hosted at partner yacht clubs such as Lough Derg, Kinsale and Lough Ree, ensuring participants experience a variety of sailing venues while building camaraderie and a love for the sport.
